To Make a Profile Skin

3. The "Submit to hi5" button will activate when you have uploaded all of the required images. You can also keep the skin private and share the code with your friends.

Common Rejection Reasons & Solutions . .

Reason: Your submission contains copyrighted images or images from other skin artists. Please use only your own original artwork.

Solution: Remove images from your submission that you found on other websites and profiles. Replace them with images you made completely by yourself. You may also use images that you bought the right to use.

Reason: The skin graphics are too distorted, pixelated, or blurry and need to be higher quality.

Solution: Start with large, uncompressed images. If you have a small image and scale/transform it to fit a required image size, then it will look blurry, distorted, or pixelated. When you save your images, compress them as little as possible.

Reason: Text is difficult to read over the background image.

Solution: Fill out your profile, especially the Main Section, to cover your profile in as much text as possible. Try viewing your profile in different languages and in different browsers. The text can change unexpectedly and cover different parts of the background image. Inspect the Headers, Navigation, and Body for places where text or links might become difficult to read over a background image.

Reason: The mini module background or page background does not repeat seamlessly.

Solution: Find a tutorial to learn how to create seamless background tiles. If you don’t want your image to tile, use a gradient so the edges of the image blend into the background color.

Reason: You may only include your name and/or hi5 profile URL 1 time in a small font in the main module area.

Solution: Remove duplicate instances of your name or URL, and any names/URLs that are not your name or your hi5 profile. If there is only one instance of your name/URL on your skin, make it smaller.

Reason: Your submission does not qualify as a profile skin. It does not meet our basic requirements –or– It does not contain enough unique images.

Solution: Read about the required images here: http://hi5.com/friend/account/displaySkinSpecs.do. Make sure your submission is unique and original. Avoid submitting skins made up of solid colors and simple gradients, or filling all skin images with the same pattern or design.

Reason: We are not accepting skins with transparent PNG images at this time.

Solution: Change the transparent PNG images to transparent GIF images. Watch out for pixelation.

Reason: Duplicate submission.

Solution: Once you have an approved skin in the gallery that has over 50,000 profile uses, you may submit similar skins as part of a Theme for consideration. Themed skins may have graphical similarities, but the majority of the imagery must be significantly different from each other in use of color, graphics, layout, and/or general execution. Themed variations will be limited to three within the gallery.
