Voting begins this Friday, August 8 for the MTV Video Music Awards Best Rock Video and Video of the Year catagories. To help nominate Linkin Park's "What I've Done," watch F'N MTV this Friday at 8pm ET/PT then vote here!
A quick email to spread the word about two great things happening right now: As many of you know, my "Glorious Excess" art show just concluded in Los Angeles, with brand new books, skate decks, and prints available on mikeshinoda.com.
To celebrate the show, I've partnered with a great new website called WeMix.com.
The site was created by Chris "Ludacris" Bridges; it's a place for new musicians to collaborate, and a place for fans to discover new up-and-coming artists.
My contest is live right now. Using my art as a theme--in any way you like--you go to WeMix.com, upload your original songs, beats, vocals. I'm going to pick my 5 favorite songs, and then the WeMix community will vote for the winner.
The winner will go straight into the studio to record a full version of their song. I'll join you to personally help out.
Even if you've never made music before, you can make mashups of songs at WeMix and have real input in helping us create this totally unique song.
Linkin Park Concerts to Benefit Earthquake Relief in China

Linkin Park has announced upcoming Music for Relief concerts in Shanghai on October 12 and Beijing on October 19 in which a portion of the proceeds will be contributed to MFR for the earthquake-hit Sichuan area in China. The World Bank has announced that it will be matching funds raised at the concerts for post-earthquake reconstruction projects initiated by Chinese civil society organizations.
"Music For Relief was established to respond to natural disasters to help victims recover and rebuild," said Chester. "We hope our efforts in China will provide assistance to people affected and continue to raise international awareness about the reconstruction-related projects."
Tickets are on sale now for the Shanghai date at www.ticketmaster.cn and go on sale for the Beijing date on August 11.

With only 100 posters printed per city, these posters are very limited and will go fast! The band commissioned many of their favorite artists for each poster including the Ames Brothers, Print Mafia, Malleus, Plasticgod, Methamphibian, Dalek, Ekundayo, Blaine Fontana, Tessar Lo, Nate van Dyke and Alex Pardee. Poster tubes are available at the merch booths, so be sure to ask for one to protect these great collectibles!

Last night was the opening of my new art show, Glorious Excess. I'm proud of how the art came out, and was grateful to see such an amazing turnout! Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen, and everyone who showed up to check out the art and pick up some merchandise. Alex Pardee's unique style is one conceived through watching years of horror movies, writing graffiti, and listening to gangster rap. His work best represents that of a vibrant undead circus sideshow. Finapieces are often brought to life by translating random shapes and colors into signs of torment and absurdity. By juxtaposing these two conflicting moods, Alex makes his works more personal to his viewers,forcing them to project their own feelings and emotions onto each character in his twisted universe. Alex's own form of therapy is art. His love for drawing and painting spawned from his fascination with the grotesque images of Garbage Pail Kids and Tales from the Crypt comics.

Damn it! i wish i went to the lp concert here in VA i was sick. it was a bday present for myself....i never have ever missed a concert and this one was the first one...damn!!!
